About this tour

Departing at 07:30 in the morning, in just two hours from Athens City Center or your accommodation, you’ll journey through stunning landscapes, passing the famous Corinth Canal, a remarkable feat of engineering that connects the Saronic Gulf to the Corinthian Gulf, effectively dividing mainland Greece from the Peloponnese. A short stop here allows you to capture the striking view of this narrow passageway, which has been a vital link between the Aegean and Ionian Seas for centuries.

After about an hour’s drive, you will enter the Argolis region, the legendary land of Homer’s Golden Mycenae. This UNESCO World Heritage site is steeped in myth and history, famously known as the home of King Agamemnon, the leader of the Greek forces in the Trojan War. As you explore Mycenae, marvel at the towering Cyclopean Walls, the imposing Lion’s Gate, and the awe-inspiring Royal Tombs, including those of Agamemnon and his wife Clytemnestra. You’ll also visit the Treasury of Atreus, a monumental beehive-shaped tomb, often referred to as the “Tomb of Agamemnon.”

Continuing on, the next stop is the enchanting town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece. Stroll through its charming streets and take in the breathtaking views of the Venetian Palamidi Fortress perched high on the hill. At the base of the fortress lies the fortified islet of Bourtzi, a tiny, picturesque island fortress located in the middle of Nafplio’s harbor. The town’s mix of neoclassical buildings, seaside charm, and rich history offers a perfect place to unwind and explore.

Your final destination is the stunning Epidaurus, home to one of the best-preserved Ancient Theatres in Greece. Dating back to the 4th century BC, this UNESCO World Heritage site is renowned for its outstanding acoustics and remarkable preservation. Here, you’ll be transported back in time as you learn about the theater’s importance in Greek culture and drama. With its exceptional acoustics, the Epidaurus Theatre is still used for performances today, offering a unique opportunity to hear about its fascinating history in the very place where ancient Greek tragedies once captivated audiences.

After an enriching day of exploring some of the most iconic and awe-inspiring sites in Greece, you’ll head back to Athens, carrying with you the stories, myths, and memories of a truly unforgettable journey through time.
