Athens – Nafplio – Mountains & Coast of Arcadia: 7-Day Trip

Day 1: Athens – Corinth Canal – Mycenae – Nafplio
Pick-up from your hotel in Athens or from the airport. First stop at the Corinth Canal, then Mycenae with the Lion Gate and the royal tombs of the Mycenaean kings. Overnight in Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece, with its old town, the Bourtzi castle in the bay and the Palamidi fortress above.

Day 2: Nafplio – the mountain villages of Arcadia
Morning in Nafplio, then up into the mountains of central Arcadia (about 1.5–2 hours). Stone villages, fir forests and traditional tavernas on the slopes of Mount Mainalo. Overnight in Lagkadia, Dimitsana or Stemnitsa, in one of our partner hotels.

Day 3: Menalon Trail and Lousios Gorge
A day on foot on a section of the certified Menalon Trail between Stemnitsa and Dimitsana, through the Lousios Gorge with the monasteries of Prodromou and Philosophou built into the rock. For an easier day, visit Dimitsana with its Open-Air Water Power Museum and Stemnitsa by car. Second night in the mountains.

Day 4: Down to the coast – Leonidio
Drive down to the coast of Kynouria and Leonidio (about 2.5 hours), the heart of Tsakonia, under huge red cliffs. Walk through the old town of stone tower houses and taste the local Tsakonian cuisine. Overnight in Leonidio or Tyros.

Day 5: Sea and rock
Choose your active day: sea kayaking along the coast of Tyros, climbing with a local instructor on the cliffs of Leonidio, or a hike on the old cobbled path from Melana. In the evening, Tsakonian cooking with a local cook or dinner by the sea. Second night on the coast.

Day 6: Astros – Athens
Along the coast to Paralio Astros, with its castle and long sandy beach, and back to Athens (about 2.5 hours). Overnight in Athens.

Day 7: Departure
Transfer from your hotel to Athens International Airport for your flight home.
