📍 Mesochori Square, Kastraki, 422 00, Trikala, Greece

Archontiko Mesohori is a late-19th-century mansion on the square of Kastraki, the village right under the rocks of Meteora. It was carefully restored in 2006 and keeps its traditional character.

There are six suites, each named after a Greek goddess and each with two separate spaces, a fireplace, a kitchenette and a king-size bed. A quiet, characterful choice for couples and families who want to wake up next to the monasteries.

Explore Meteora

The monasteries of Meteora stand on top of huge rock pillars above the town of Kalambaka and the village of Kastraki, in Thessaly. Six of them are still active and open to visitors, and the old footpaths between the rocks make for some of the most memorable short hikes in Greece. Meteora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

How to get here from Athens

Archontiko Mesohori is in Kastraki, at the foot of Meteora, about 350 km (4 h 30) by car from Athens. The direct train to Kalambaka has been out of service since storm Daniel in 2023, so the easiest way is a private transfer from Athens or from Thessaloniki airport (about 2 h 45) – with a stop at Thermopylae on the way from Athens if you like.
