About this Tour
The Mainalo ski centre at Ostrakina sits between 1,550 and 1,770 metres on the mountain of Arcadia, about 15 km (around 30 minutes) from Vytina. It opened in 1965 and is one of the three oldest ski centres in Greece, with 8 runs (about 5.5 km in total) and 4 lifts – small, friendly and good for families and beginners. This private 3-day weekend from Athens combines a day on the snow with the fir forest, stone houses and fireplaces of Vytina.
Day 1: Athens – Vytina
Pick-up in Athens (city or airport) in a private car or minivan, with ski bags and child seats on request. About 2½ hours to Vytina, with a coffee stop on the way. Afternoon walk in the village square and the fir forest, dinner in a taverna.
Day 2: A day on the snow at Mainalo
Your driver takes you up to the ski centre in the morning and brings you back to Vytina in the afternoon. Ski or snowboard on the runs, or play in the snow and sledge if you do not ski. Evening by the fireplace.
Day 3: Arcadian villages – Athens
A slow morning, then a stop in Dimitsana or Stemnitsa, or in Lagkadia, our home village, on the way back. Return to Athens in the afternoon.

When can we ski at Mainalo?
In the winter months, only when there is enough snow – the season changes every year. We check the snow report with you a few days before the trip.
We do not ski. Is the trip still for us?
Yes. Many families come for the snow play, the fir forest and the villages. Your driver can take you up for a few hours and back down whenever you want.
Can you pick us up from Tripoli or Nafplio instead of Athens?
Yes. We can start from Tripoli, Nafplio, Athens airport or any hotel in the Peloponnese.
