Explore Zagori
Zagori is a group of 46 stone villages in the mountains north of Ioannina, inside the Vikos–Aoos UNESCO Global Geopark. Old stone bridges, cobbled mule paths and the deep Vikos Gorge make it one of the best hiking areas in Greece, while Papigo, below the Towers of Astraka, is the starting point for the climb to the Dragon Lake of Tymfi.

Ano Pedina is in central Zagori, about 40 km from Ioannina and roughly 3 h 15 by car from Thessaloniki. There is no train to Zagori and buses to the villages are rare, so the easiest way is a private transfer from Thessaloniki or Ioannina – or as part of a longer trip with Meteora on the way.
