Christmas in Nafplio with Kids: 3 Days from Athens

Nafplio is one of the easiest and most festive Christmas breaks for families from Athens: a small old town you can walk with a stroller, a lit-up harbour, the little castle of Bourtzi in the bay and plenty of space for children to run along the seafront. This private 3-day trip is planned around the Christmas long weekend (Friday 25 – Sunday 27 December 2026), but works on any weekend in December.

Day 1: Athens – Corinth Canal – Nafplio
Pick-up from your home, hotel or the airport in a private car or minivan with child seats. A short stop at the Corinth Canal to look down from the bridge, then on to Nafplio (about 2 hours in total). Check in, walk the decorated old town, Syntagma Square and the harbour, and have dinner in one of the family tavernas.

Day 2: Nafplio and Tolo by the sea
A slow family day: the seafront walk from the harbour to Arvanitia, ice cream with a view of Bourtzi, and an afternoon by the sea at Tolo, 15 minutes away, where children can play on the long sandy beach even in winter. Your driver is with you for the day.

Day 3: Mycenae or Epidaurus – Athens
On the way back, visit Mycenae with its Lion Gate and royal tombs, or the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, where children love testing the famous acoustics. Arrival in Athens in the afternoon.

Archaeological sites in Greece are closed on 25 and 26 December and on 1 January, so we plan the visits on the other days. More nights, another hotel or a different start city (for example Lagkadia or Tripoli) are possible on request. We reply within 24 hours.
