The Elves’ Mill in Trikala and Meteora: Christmas Weekend for Families

The Elves’ Mill (Mylos ton Xotikon) in Trikala is the best-known Christmas theme park in Greece: the old Matsopoulos mill by the Lithaios river becomes a Christmas village with Santa’s house, the elves’ workshops, lights and shows for children. In 2026 it runs from 20 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. We combine it with a stay at the foot of Meteora, 20 minutes away, for a family weekend children will remember.

Day 1: Athens – Trikala – Kalambaka
Pick-up in Athens in a private car or minivan with child seats and a drive of about 4 hours with stops. Afternoon and evening at the Elves’ Mill, when the lights are on, then a short drive to your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki.

Day 2: The rocks and monasteries of Meteora
A morning with your driver among the rocks of Meteora, with views from the viewpoints and a visit to one or two monasteries (each closes one day a week – we plan around it). Free afternoon, or a second visit to the Elves’ Mill if the children ask for it.

Day 3: Meteora – Athens
A slow morning and the drive back to Athens, with a lunch stop on the way.

Weekends in December are the busiest time at the Elves’ Mill and hotels in Meteora fill up early, so ask us soon. A start from Thessaloniki, more nights or a stop in Delphi on the way are possible on request. We reply within 24 hours.
