New Year in Athens with Kids: 3 Days in the City

Athens at New Year is lively but easy with children when everything is arranged: a central hotel within walking distance of Plaka, a driver waiting at the airport, and the big sights timed for the quiet morning hours. This private 3-day break is planned around the New Year long weekend (Friday 1 – Sunday 3 January 2027) and works on any dates during the holidays.

Day 1: Arrival and festive Athens
Private transfer from the airport or port with child seats to your central hotel. In the afternoon walk through Plaka and Monastiraki to Syntagma Square with its big Christmas tree and decorations.

Day 2: The Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum
An early visit to the Acropolis, before the crowds, then the Acropolis Museum next door, where children can see the original statues up close. Afternoon free: the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center by the sea has a big park and festive events for families during the holidays.

Day 3: Cape Sounio – airport
A morning drive along the Athens Riviera to the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounio, with lunch by the sea, then on to the airport for your flight home (Sounio is about 45 minutes from the airport).

Archaeological sites and many museums are closed on 1 January, so the Acropolis is planned for the next day. We can add a night, a stop at the Athens Riviera beaches or a transfer to Piraeus on request. We reply within 24 hours.
