• The waterfront – walk to the marina, the town beach, cafés and the old town.
• East of town (Kordia, Verga) – resort-style hotels with pools and sunset views over the gulf, on the way to the Mani.
• West of town (Bouka beach) – a long sandy beach, quiet and family-friendly.

The waterfront is best for a city stay with the marina, tavernas and town beach on foot. The hotels east of town, towards the Mani, have more space, pools and sea views.

Is Kalamata a good base for the Peloponnese?

Yes. Ancient Messene is 30 minutes away, the Mani and Pylos about an hour, and Kalamata has its own airport.

How far is Kalamata airport from the town?
