About this Tour
Celebrate the New Year inside a castle: Monemvasia is a medieval town on a rock in the sea, with car-free lanes, stone houses and a festive feel at the holidays. On the way home the Byzantine ghost town of Mystras feels like a real-life adventure for children. This private 3-day trip is planned around the New Year long weekend (Friday 1 – Sunday 3 January 2027).
Day 1: Athens – Monemvasia
Pick-up in Athens in a private car or minivan with child seats and a drive of about 4 hours with stops for coffee and lunch. Check in, then walk across the causeway into the castle town of Monemvasia for the evening.
Day 2: The castle town of Monemvasia
A day to explore at your own pace: the lanes and churches of the lower town, the climb to the upper town and the church of Agia Sofia on the edge of the cliff, and lunch with a view of the sea. Your driver can take you to nearby beaches or villages in the afternoon.
Day 3: Mystras – Athens
A morning at Mystras, the Byzantine hill town near Sparta with palaces, monasteries and a castle at the top, then the drive back to Athens.
Archaeological sites are closed on 1 January, so Mystras is visited on the last day. More nights, a stop in Sparta or a return via Nafplio are possible on request. We reply within 24 hours.

Which dates can we choose?
Any dates during the holidays. For New Year 2027, Friday 1 to Sunday 3 January is a long weekend.
Can we take a stroller into Monemvasia?
The lanes are cobbled with steps, so a baby carrier is easier. Cars stay outside the gate, and most partner hotels help with luggage.
Is Mystras a lot of walking?
It is a hillside site with paths and steps. Your driver can drop you at the upper gate so you walk mostly downhill.
