Explore Nafplio
Nafplio was the first capital of modern Greece and is still one of its most beautiful towns: an old town of neoclassical mansions and bougainvillea-covered lanes around Syntagma Square, the Venetian Palamidi fortress above, and the little Bourtzi castle in the harbour. Arvanitia and Karathona beaches are minutes away, and Mycenae, Tiryns and the theatre of Epidaurus are all within a short drive.

Ippoliti Hotel is in the old town of Nafplio, about 2 hours by car from Athens and the airport. There is no train to Nafplio and buses are slow, so the easiest way is a private transfer: your driver meets you at the airport, the port or your hotel in Athens and brings you to the door – with a stop at the Corinth Canal if you like.
