The mountains of Arcadia, in the heart of the Peloponnese, are a land of stone villages, fir forests and deep gorges – and our home: our office is in Lagkadia. The Menalon Trail links the villages on foot, the Lousios gorge hides monasteries in its cliffs, and every season has its own reason to come. • Lagkadia & Magouliana – amphitheatrical villages at 1,000 m and more, at the end of the Menalon Trail, with views over the Gortynian mountains.
• Dimitsana, Stemnitsa & Karytaina – for the Lousios gorge, its monasteries, the Open-Air Water Power Museum and the start of the Menalon Trail.
• Vytina, Elati & Mount Mainalo – fir forests, the Mainalo ski centre in winter, and the easiest access from Athens.
• Levidi – a quiet plateau village close to Tripoli, at the foot of Mount Mainalo.

How to get there

Mountain Arcadia is about 2 to 3 hours by car from Athens. Our private transfer Athens – Lagkadia and Athens – Stemnitsa take you to your hotel, and see Athens airport to Tripoli: your options. Between the villages we drive you from Lagkadia: Dimitsana, Vytina, Karytaina, Tripoli.

Which village is the best base in mountain Arcadia?

Dimitsana and Stemnitsa are best for the Lousios gorge, Vytina for easy access and the fir forests, and Lagkadia for the views and the end of the Menalon Trail. The villages are 10 to 30 km apart, so you can see the whole area from one base.

Can you move our luggage between hotels on the Menalon Trail?

Yes. Our office is in Lagkadia, and we arrange your hotels, luggage transfers and pick-ups along the trail. Tell us your dates and we reply within 24 hours.

How far is mountain Arcadia from Athens?

About 2 to 3 hours by car – around 2 hours to Vytina and closer to 3 to Lagkadia and Dimitsana.
